Dear Parents
We hope you had a good summer break and that you are as excited as us to enter the new school year. Firstly we would like to welcome all new parents and children. The staffs at NLIS are looking forward to work with all the parents to provide your children with a high quality education. Please allow me to take this opportunity to inform you of a few items before we start the new school year.
1. As you know the school is undergoing an exciting change this year with our move to new premises. If you have not yet seen the new building, don’t worry. We will give you a tour during our first parent-staff meeting. We are working hard for a smooth transition to the new premises, so that we will have the minimum interruptions for the children.
2. While the final renovations of the school are being done we are pleased to inform you that the school will be held on the second floor of the main administration building (behind blg #1) at the complex of our school. The facilities are very convenient and it is a spacious area with indoor sports facilities and an outdoor playground. For clarity the address of our: JI MA LI Cheng, Terminal station of the subway to the Olympic Station (gate 1& 3)
3. An important issue to take note of is that the official start date of the school has moved to the 7th of September. However, we would like the children to attend school on Wednesday the 2sd of September for an orientation and instructions day.
4. As discussed at our meetings last year we would like students to wear NLIS uniforms for the coming school year. In order to get these made for the new school year we require the following information of the students; Name, Sex, Bust, Length and Hips. Please could you send this information to Mr. Levi Kabula at: 82213224; 13951800230 or by email to: nliaschool@nliaschool.org. Alternatively you can send the information with your child when they come for their Orientation and Instructions day. We will strive to keep the cost of these as low as possible.
5. We would like to remind you that we welcome part-time and ESL students in the afternoons. This program is open to all foreigners. In the past it has worked well for families from overseas who would like to see their children to learn more about the Chinese language and its culture. It allows students to attend Chinese schools in the morning and study the NLIS English curriculum in the afternoons.
6. Please go to www.nliaschool.org to view the coming school calendar. Please take note: the date of our first parent orientation event will be held on the 11th of September . We will send you details of this event through the children’s envelope.
7. There are currently two positions open at NLIS; these are for an Early childhood teacher and a Secretary. The Secretary needs to be fluent both in Chinese and English. If you know of anyone suitable for these positions please direct them to us.
8. The smooth running of our school depends on all our families; hence your co-operation in the above mentioned matters are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you
Mrs. Johanna van Rensburg Zhao
Principal
